A chilling murder has shaken Delhi's Shalimar Bagh area, where 44-year-old Rachna Yadav, the president of her locality's resident welfare association, was shot dead at point-blank range on Saturday. According to police, Rachna was shot in the head while returning from a meeting with a neighbor. The initial investigation suggests that the attackers, who were two men, approached Rachna and asked for her name. Immediately after, one of them fired a shot, striking her in the head. The attackers fled the scene, leaving behind an empty cartridge. Rachna's murder may be linked to her husband's 2023 murder, which is still under trial. She was the main witness in the case, and her testimony was crucial for the prosecution. The police are now re-examining all aspects of the 2023 case, particularly the role of the proclaimed offender, Bharat Yadav, who is still absconding. Rachna's daughter, Kanika Yadav, has alleged that Bharat Yadav orchestrated her mother's murder, fearing that Rachna's statement would lead to their conviction in the 2023 case. The police have formed several teams to trace and apprehend the accused. The Additional Commissioner of Police (Northwest) has assured that the case will be thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrators will be brought to justice. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.
