After hosting Delhi's most fashionable Valentine's Day party for over two decades, Bhaichand Patel has decided to call it quits. But this isn't the end of his social calendar. In fact, he's planning another gathering in October to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Seated in his central Delhi apartment, Bhaichand explains why he stopped hosting the annual party. He says it was the absence of his longtime friends that made him realize he no longer had anyone older than him.
Despite being a committed socialite, Bhaichand values solitude and has lived alone in his apartment for 26 years. His wife passed away two years ago, and his children are settled abroad.
However, he continues to host smaller gatherings in memory of his friends who have passed away. His most recent was held two weeks ago, and another is planned for October 21.
