Delhi continued to swelter on Monday with a maximum temperature of 42.1°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted similar conditions for the day, but relief is on the horizon.
A gradual shift in weather is expected to bring temperatures down, with the maximum temperature likely to fall to 40-42°C on Tuesday and dip further to 39-41°C on Wednesday.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with rain for the capital city on April 28 and 29, along with dust winds and strong storms.
Amateur weather observer Navdeep Dahiya also predicted a similar pattern, with temperatures expected to fall from Tuesday evening in rain-affected regions.
He warned of strong dust storms, followed by short spells of moderate to heavy intensity rain and thundershowers, which may last 15-45 minutes.
The IMD has also predicted widespread rainfall activity over Northeast and adjoining eastern India, and isolated to scattered rainfall activity across North India and southern parts of the peninsula over the next three days.
