The Union education ministry has deployed personnel from the CRPF and CISF to provide a second layer of security during the transportation of question papers for the June 21 NEET-UG re-examination.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has also extended the duration of the test by 15 minutes and redesigned the question booklet with two additional rough pages.

The developments come days ahead of the test scheduled for June 21, after the earlier test was scrapped due to a question paper leak.

According to officials, NTA director general Abhishek Singh requested CAPF protection to transport the question papers from June 11 till the evening of the exam on June 21.

The Indian Air Force has also been roped in to expedite the distribution of question papers and reduce the delivery time by half.

The two forces are providing personnel from their specialised units, and CAPF officers will be on board the IAF plane during transportation for security reasons.

The NTA has also extended the examination duration to 195 minutes from the usual 180 minutes, with the test now running from 2pm to 5.15 pm.
