India and the European Union have taken a significant step towards simplifying the process of skilled professionals moving to Europe. The two sides are working on a pilot project to support the movement of professionals, starting with the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector. The proposed European Legal Gateway Office in India will serve as a one-stop hub for providing information and supporting professionals seeking to work in the EU. The initiative was discussed at the High Level Dialogue for Migration and Mobility in New Delhi, co-chaired by Indian and EU officials. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of migration and mobility in their strategic partnership and expressed satisfaction with the implementation of their Common Agenda on Migration and Mobility. They also exchanged views on further initiatives to realize the full potential of cooperation in this area. The dialogue was attended by officials from various ministries, including home affairs, health, skills development, commerce, labour, and education, as well as heads of mission and representatives of EU member states. The partnership aims to unlock the full potential of cooperation between India and the EU in the area of migration and mobility.
