Former army chief General Manoj Naravane has spoken out about the controversy surrounding his unpublished memoir, saying it was 'not warranted' to quote him and pull him into public attention.

Naravane's comments come after he recently published two books, including 'The Curious and the Classified: Unearthing Military Myths and Mysteries', which looks at the traditions and history of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The row over his unpublished memoir began in February when Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi was prevented from referring to parts of the book in the Lok Sabha, as it had not been published at the time.

Naravane has since moved past the issue, saying he has completed two books and another one will be released soon.

'The Ministry of Defence had asked the publisher to put it on hold till it was vetted. As far as I am concerned, the matter rested there, and I have moved on…so that is a closed chapter,' he said.

Naravane's latest book is an entertaining read, looking at several interesting stories linked to the traditions and history of the Indian military.
