Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has expressed strong disapproval of BJP leaders forming alliances with the Congress and AIMIM in recent local polls. The CM warned that disciplinary action will be taken against those involved in these unauthorized alliances. The controversy surrounds the BJP's decision to partner with the Congress and AIMIM in Ambernath and Akot, respectively, despite the party's national stance against coalition politics. Fadnavis clarified that these alliances did not have the approval of the party's senior leadership and are a breach of party discipline. The move has sparked a debate within the Mahayuti coalition, a three-party alliance that includes the BJP, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena. The BJP-Congress-NCP combine secured a majority in the Ambernath Municipal Council, while the Shiv Sena emerged as the single largest party. Opposition leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut and MLA Dr Balaji Kinikar, have accused the BJP of opportunism and violating 'coalition dharma.' The BJP, however, has defended its decision, saying it was necessary to form a stable government in the local councils. Fadnavis has instructed officials to undo the arrangements and take action against local BJP leaders involved in these unsanctioned alliances. The CM's stance is a clear indication that the party will not tolerate such deviations from its national stance on coalition politics.
