Family members of two children killed in a bomb attack in Manipur's Tronglaobi village accepted their mortal remains after 25 days, officials said.
The two minors, a five-year-old boy and his six-month-old sister, were allegedly killed in a bomb attack while sleeping with their mother, who was injured in the incident.
The family had refused to accept the bodies until those responsible were arrested, but eventually, they were buried at Lamthabung ground in Phougakchao Ikhai, Bishnupur.
Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh had appealed to the family to accept their bodies and assured them of a job in the Indian Reserved Battalion (IRB) or Manipur Rifles for the father, who serves in the Border Security Force (BSF), and equivalent service for the mother, who works as a nurse at the All India Institute of Medical Science in Guwahati.
The government has launched a military crackdown in the suspected area and handed over the case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which has arrested five suspects of the banned underground outfit United Kuki National Army (UKNA) so far.
