Former army chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane expressed hope that his unpublished memoir Four Stars of Destiny will be cleared for publication. He stated that he enjoyed writing the book and has moved on from the controversy surrounding it.
Naravane's memoir, which details a delicate moment during the India-China military standoff in 2020, triggered a political firestorm and disrupted Parliament in February.
He clarified that the book was written purely on the basis of memory and not official history, and that he was not making notes throughout his service.
The government backed him in Parliament, and Naravane has moved on from the controversy, focusing on his new book The Curious and the Classified: Unearthing Military Myths and Mysteries.
The manuscript of Four Stars of Destiny must be cleared by the army's additional directorate general of strategic communication before publication, but the defence ministry has not yet cleared the book.
