The charred body of a former MLA's son was found in a car in a forest area of Belagavi district, police said.
The deceased, Raju Bolashetty (53), was the son of former MLA Baburao Bolashetty.
Police suspect the assailants killed Raju and set the car on fire to destroy evidence.
A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation to identify those involved.
A forensic team and dog squad inspected the scene and collected evidence.
