A family of four was rescued from a Ghaziabad apartment after a fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday.

The fire, which occurred around 3am in the third-floor flat of Avantika SK Homes, killed three pet dogs, including two German Shepherds and a Husky.

Fire officials said the family, comprising Pawan Sharma (52), his wife (46), and their two children (20 and 18), were rescued using ladders within 10 minutes of the fire department receiving a call.

The fire was brought under control within an hour with the help of two fire tenders, but not before it damaged all household items in the flat.

According to the chief fire officer, the cause of the fire was likely a short circuit, and no human lives were lost or injuries reported.

The family, who were left with nothing in their flat, had already moved to the house of their relatives by the time an HT team visited the spot in the morning.
