A Goa to Delhi IndiGo flight with 229 people on board made an emergency landing on Tuesday after the pilot reported a suspected engine failure minutes after take-off, prompting the declaration of a full emergency at Manohar International Airport. The flight 6E 2102 departed at 9.16am and landed safely at 9.50am.Officials said no passengers or crew members reported injuries, and emergency response teams were on standby to handle the aircraft's return. “A full emergency was declared at the airport at 9.25am after the pilot alerted air traffic control (ATC) about the suspected engine failure and requested an emergency landing,” an official said.Officials said a team from the regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), will inspect the aircraft in Goa.In a statement, IndiGo said the aircraft was undergoing maintenance checks. It added that the standard operating procedure was followed after a technical issue was detected shortly after takeoff. “...the relevant authorities were informed, and the pilots turned back and landed the aircraft safely at Manohar International Airport.” The statement said the aircraft will resume operations after securing the necessary clearances. "We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers and made every effort to minimise it, including offering refreshments and timely updates."The statement said alternative arrangements were made for customers to reach their destination. "The safety of our customers, crew, and aircraft remains our top priority at IndiGo."A second official said the passengers remain at the Goa airport terminal and were expected to be flown to Delhi during the day.
