Gold Heist Unraveled: Bengaluru Woman Arrested for ₹32 Lakh Worth of Stolen Jewellery

In a significant breakthrough, Bengaluru police have arrested a woman accused of stealing gold jewellery and cash by posing as a relative at marriage halls. The suspect's arrest has led to the recovery of 262 grams of gold worth ₹32 lakh. The incident dates back to November 23, when a resident of Manjunatha Nagar reported that her 32-gram gold chain and an artificial collar chain went missing from a marriage hall in Basavanagudi. An investigation was launched, and based on credible information, the police apprehended the accused from her residence in Udayanagar, K R Puram, on December 1. During interrogation, the accused revealed that she had committed thefts in three cases registered at Basavanagudi Police Station, as well as other districts. She had kept the stolen gold jewellery at her residence and had even availed a gold loan by pledging the jewellery at a bank. Between December 2 and 12, a total of 262 grams of gold jewellery was recovered from her residence and the bank. The total value of the recovered jewellery is ₹32 lakh. With the arrest, three theft cases in Bengaluru have been solved, and efforts are underway to trace other theft cases committed in other districts. Further investigation is ongoing.
