In a disturbing case of alleged honour killing, police in Haryana's Manesar have arrested two men, including a 28-year-old man who masterminded the crime. The accused, who was angry about his 19-year-old sister's relationship with a 24-year-old man from another community, conspired with his 30-year-old friend to kill her. The sister, who had been living with her boyfriend in Manesar, was sent back to their family home in Etah, Uttar Pradesh, but fled back to Manesar to be with her partner. The brother then devised a plan to kill her, and on the night of December 10, his friend lured her to an isolated area in Gwalior, where he allegedly raped and strangled her to death. After the crime, both men fled to their hometowns, but the brother eventually confessed to the crime under sustained questioning. His friend also admitted to the sexual assault and murder. An FIR has been registered under sections related to murder, common intention, and criminal conspiracy. The police investigation is ongoing, with DNA tests, a potency test of the accused, and post-mortem findings being used to corroborate the evidence. The sister's boyfriend was initially detained but was cleared after evidence showed the brother and his friend were present at the crime scene.
