The Delhi High Court has ordered the immediate removal of a nearly two-decade-old song by Honey Singh and Badshah from all online platforms.

The song, titled Volume 1, was released around 2006-07 under their collaboration Mafia Mundeer and has been deemed 'derogatory towards women' by the court.

A bench of Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav made strong observations on the song's lyrics, stating that they are 'grossly vulgar, patently obscene, and derogatory towards women, artistic values, and social norms.'

The court also noted that such content cannot be protected under free speech if it is freely accessible online and directed all links hosting the song to be taken down without delay.

The court has issued notice to both singers and scheduled the next hearing for May 7.
