Hyderabad has witnessed a significant decline in crimes, with a 15% drop in the number of cases recorded in 2025 compared to the previous year. According to Hyderabad Police Commissioner V C Sajjanar, the city saw 30,690 cases in 2025, down from 35,944 in 2024. However, despite this overall decrease, crimes against women have increased by 6%, with a 27% rise in POCSO cases. Cybercrime cases have also seen a decline, with 3,735 cases registered in 2025, an 8% drop from the previous year. Sajjanar attributed the decrease in crimes to measures taken by the police, including enhanced enforcement and visible policing. Looking ahead to 2026, the Hyderabad Police plans to leverage technology to improve policing, with a focus on AI-driven crime prediction, hotspot mapping, and facial recognition. The police also aim to expand drone policing, body-worn cameras, and digital case management, while ensuring data privacy and legal compliance. The police will also strengthen their cybercrime cells, launch awareness drives on cyber slavery and online scams, and upgrade their SHE teams with technology support to enable faster investigation of crimes against women and children. Furthermore, a dedicated team will be established to investigate food adulteration cases, and smart traffic systems will be implemented to address congestion and road safety. These initiatives are part of the police's efforts to move towards anticipatory policing and improve safety in the city.
