India and the African Union have postponed the India-Africa Forum Summit due to the Ebola outbreak in parts of Africa.

The summit, scheduled for May 28-31 in New Delhi, was put off following consultations between the two sides.

They agreed to convene the summit at a later date, citing the emerging public health situation on the continent.

India reaffirmed its solidarity with African states and expressed its readiness to contribute to efforts to address the health situation.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has reported 246 suspected cases and 80 deaths, mainly in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

New dates for the summit will be finalised through mutual consultations.
