India on Tuesday stressed the importance of safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz as Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

This was the second phone call since the start of the US and Israel's war against Iran between the two leaders, who have spoken with several Arab countries in recent days.

Modi reiterated India's strong condemnation of attacks on the UAE that have resulted in loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure.

India has repeatedly emphasized the security of its 10 million nationals living in West Asia, including four million in the UAE.

The two leaders agreed to continue working together for the early restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.
