New Delhi, India is set to receive the fourth unit of the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system from Russia in the first part of next month, further enhancing the IAF's air defence mechanism.

The fourth unit has already been shipped and is expected to reach India in the next few days, sources in the security establishment said.

India had signed a USD 5 billion deal with Russia in October 2018 to procure five units of the missile systems, with three already delivered.

The S-400 missile systems played a crucial role during Operation Sindoor and the Indian Air Force used them extensively during the May 7-10 military conflict with Pakistan.

India cleared the procurement of a fresh batch of five S-400 missile systems from Russia last month, taking the total number to 10.
