Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has directed the military brass to draw operational and technological lessons from the ongoing US-Israel war with Iran to bolster India's defence preparedness.
The directive came during a review of the West Asia crisis, which has disrupted global supply chains, sparked a surge in oil and gas prices, and rattled the global economy.
Singh said a comprehensive integrated roadmap for the next decade should be formalised, factoring in lessons learnt, challenges, and opportunities, while ensuring self-reliance and operational readiness across all fronts.
The review also examined the impact of the situation on supply chain management, procurement, and production of defence equipment, including maintenance and serviceability of existing equipment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the West Asia crisis has sparked a serious global energy crisis and disrupted key trade routes, with direct implications for India's economy and supply chains.
