The Election Commission of India has announced the schedule for Assembly polls for Kerala, Assam, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal.

According to the announcement, the assembly elections will commence from April 9 for Kerala, Assam, and Puducherry, while West Bengal and Tamil Nadu will vote on April 23 and 29.

The terms of the legislative assemblies of these states are ending on different dates in May and June, prompting the commission to conduct elections before that.

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists has been completed in these states, with final electoral rolls already published.

Senior EC officials conducted a nationwide review exercise, meeting with senior administrative and police officials, district magistrates, and representatives of political parties.
