The Indian government has increased the number of pilgrims eligible for the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra to 1,000, a 250-person increase from last year.
The pilgrimage, set to take place from June to August, will see 20 batches of 50 pilgrims each travel through either Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand or Nathu La in Sikkim.
The selection process is fully computerised, with applicants chosen through a fair, random, and gender-balanced draw.
The last date for registration is May 19, and the pilgrimage website kmy.gov.in is now open for applications.
The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra was resumed in 2025 after a five-year hiatus, following normalisation of relations between India and China.
Pilgrims will face extreme weather and rugged terrain at altitudes of up to 19,500 feet during the trek.
