Amid growing concerns over global energy supplies due to the US-Iran war, oil companies in India have dismissed rumors of a petrol-diesel shortage, assuring that the country has adequate fuel reserves.

The war has disrupted key waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, through which a fifth of the world's gas and fuel requirements are transported.

Oil companies, including Bharat Petroleum Corp. Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL), have stated that supply chains are running normally and there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG across the country.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to be prepared for every challenge, assuring that the government is working to manage the situation and safeguard public interest.

Modi noted that the government is accelerating resilience-building measures to ensure the country can withstand such challenges, and that consistent and far-sighted decisions have been taken over the past eleven years to prepare for such crises.
