Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an all-out effort to reduce the impact of the Iran war on India. He chaired a special meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review measures being taken across key sectors.
Modi asked all departments to take every possible measure to address problems of citizens, as the ongoing West Asia conflict threatens to disrupt India's economy.
The Cabinet secretary briefed the meeting on steps taken to secure petroleum products, particularly liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG), and to ensure adequate power supply.
Domestic LPG prices for consumers have remained unchanged, and anti-diversion enforcement against hoarding and black marketing is being conducted regularly.
To maintain power availability through peak summer months, gas-based plants with a combined capacity of 7-8 GW have been exempted from the gas pooling mechanism, and additional coal rakes are being positioned at thermal power stations.
