Union health secretary Punya Salila Srivastava held a high-level review meeting with states to assess Ebola preparedness and response measures.

No Ebola cases have been reported in India so far, but the government has strengthened surveillance and preparedness measures as a precaution.

States were advised to ensure readiness at all levels, with detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) shared to cover pre-arrival and post-arrival screening, quarantine protocols, and more.

India has prior experience in handling such situations effectively, including during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in Africa.

So far, 51 cases have been confirmed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and two cases have been reported in Uganda, including one death.

The government of India remains vigilant and prepared to respond swiftly to any emerging situation, advising citizens to follow official advisories and updates.
