The Indian government has released details of the country's oil stock cover, stating that it has around 60 days of crude oil and fuel stock cover, along with 800,000 tonnes of secured LPG supplies.

The petroleum and natural gas ministry released the stock details to counter panic buying and reassure consumers amid reports of long queues at petrol pumps and LPG distributors.

India has a total stocking capacity of about 74 days, while the current stock cover stands at around 60 days, including crude oil, refined petroleum products, and strategic reserves stored in underground caverns.

The government has secured 800,000 tonnes of LPG cargoes, ensuring at least one month of uninterrupted supply, while additional procurement is being finalised.

The government has rejected speculation over LPG shortages and clarified that there is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG, with all retail outlets functioning normally.

The supply situation is fully secure and under control, with credit limits increased to over three days to ease fuel lifting for petrol pump operators.
