At least three Indian nationals have lost their lives in Iranian drone boat attacks on two merchant vessels in the waters off Oman. Another 20 Indians were injured in strikes across the region, with most sustaining minor injuries. The Indian embassy in Oman confirmed the tragic loss of life and is coordinating with authorities to facilitate the safe and early repatriation of Indian nationals. The two attacked vessels, MKD Vyom and Skylight, were in international waters when they came under Iranian fire. While MKD Vyom was attacked 52 nautical miles off the coast of Oman's Muscat governorate, Skylight was targeted near the Musandam peninsula. The Skylight's crew included 16 Indian nationals, three of whom were killed and three injured in the attack. In addition to the losses at sea, another Indian national was critically injured in an attack on the vessel LCT Alyh. Meanwhile, nearly 20 Indian nationals were injured in Iranian strikes across West Asia, with 13 of them in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The attacks are believed to be in retaliation for US and Israeli strikes that killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several top military officials over the weekend.
