Indian Naval Ship (INS) Tarkash, a frontline guided-missile frigate of the Indian Navy, arrived at Mombasa Port in Kenya on Monday for an operational turnaround scheduled to continue until October 2.
The visit is aimed at further strengthening maritime cooperation between India and Kenya and enhancing engagement between the two navies in the Western Indian Ocean region.
During the port call, personnel of the Indian and Kenyan navies will participate in professional exchanges and crew interactions. Community outreach activities are also planned as part of the visit. INS Tarkash will be open to visitors on Thursday, providing an opportunity for local residents to view the Indian Navy vessel.
Following its departure from Mombasa, INS Tarkash is scheduled to conduct a Passage Exercise with the Kenya Navy. The exercise will provide an opportunity for both navies to enhance operational coordination and maritime interoperability.
The visit reflects India’s continued engagement with regional maritime partners and advances its MAHASAGAR vision for enhanced cooperation in the Indian Ocean region.
