Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan lashed out at members who interrupted her speech in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.

While speaking on the Transgender Persons Amendment Bill, Bachchan said 'Bacche baith jao' (sit down, child) after being interrupted.

She questioned the chair, Dr Dinesh Sharma, saying 'How can you cut my time? I'll go to the Well.'

Bachchan began speaking by giving greetings for Ram Navami, but some members spoke from the other side, prompting her to say 'If someone starts talking, the attention will divert towards them. If I am talking, your attention will be towards me.'

The chair scolded the members and asked them to sit, reminding Bachchan to stick to the subject as she was losing time.

Bachchan interjected, saying 'You cannot take my time,' and threatened to go to the well, an open area in the centre of the parliament.

She questioned the urgency in bringing the bill, saying it 'can't be examined with the depth and care it deserves.'

Bachchan requested to withdraw the bill and bring it back after consideration in the Monsoon session.
