The Janata Dal United (JDU) has issued a three-line whip to its MPs, directing them to attend a special Parliament session from April 16 to 18. The session will focus on amendments to the Women's Reservation Bill, also known as the Nari Shakti Vandan Act.

The Centre is planning two major changes to streamline the bill's implementation, including proceeding with delimitation based on the 2011 Census data. This is due to delays in conducting the Census, which was linked to the original Act passed in 2023.

The proposed amendments are expected to increase the total number of Lok Sabha seats from 543 to around 816, with nearly one-third reserved for women.
