A shocking incident has unfolded at Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur, India, where three staff members have been suspended after a patient was mistakenly declared dead. The junior resident doctor and a nurse were suspended from duty after a living patient, Vinod, was incorrectly listed as deceased. The error came to light when police personnel arrived to shift the body to the mortuary, only to find Vinod alive and breathing. An investigation has been launched, with a three-member committee headed by Vice-Principal Richa Agarwal tasked with determining the circumstances surrounding the incident. According to hospital officials, two patients were admitted to adjacent beds in the Medicine Ward. While one patient, an elderly man, did indeed pass away during treatment, the junior doctor mistakenly filled out the medical file of the other patient, Vinod, listing him as deceased. The error led to the initiation of post-mortem procedures, which were halted when police discovered Vinod alive. His relatives were contacted and arrived at the hospital, but they soon left after seeing Vinod in stable condition. Hospital authorities have assured that Vinod is receiving treatment and is expected to recover. The hospital's principal, Sanjay Kala, has assured that strict action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. The incident has sparked concerns about patient care and documentation procedures within the hospital.
