Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the detention of party legislator Mehraj Malik under the Public Safety Act (PSA).

The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh quashed the detention order, stating it was legally unsustainable and based on 'non-application of mind'.

Kejriwal took to X, criticizing PM Modi and blaming him for giving 'illegal orders', saying he should have been a jail officer instead of the Prime Minister.

Malik's supporters welcomed the ruling, while J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah and CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami highlighted the misuse of the PSA.

The court directed authorities to release Malik from his preventive detention, setting aside the detention order issued by the Doda district magistrate.
