Kerala CM Pick: Who Will Emerge as the Top Contender?

Deliberations over the pick for Kerala's next chief minister continue as the Congress committee submits its report.

Three candidates, VD Satheesan, Ramesh Chennithala, and KC Venugopal, are in the race for the top post.

Satheesan, the outgoing leader of opposition, has strong links to the party and has represented the Paravur constituency for multiple terms.

Venugopal, an AICC general secretary, has proximity to the Congress leadership and played a key role in the 2026 campaign as an aid of Rahul Gandhi.

Chennithala, a former home minister, comes with strong links to the party and won from the Haripad seat for a sixth term.

The new Chief Minister will replace the outgoing Kerala Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, and the decision is likely to be made within two days of Saturday's discussions.
