Kerala Police have registered a case against a social media account for posting a video that appears to show a country-made bomb explosion in Kannur. The video, shared on Instagram's 'Red Army Kannur' account, sparked a heated exchange between CPI(M) and Muslim League activists, with each side threatening the other. The Kannur Cyber Police registered the case on Sunday after receiving a report from the Special Branch, Intelligence Wing of the Kerala Police. The FIR accuses the account holders of attempting to incite riots through their comments on the video. The incident comes amid ongoing tensions between UDF and LDF activists in the district following the local body election results. The police say they will approach Meta to obtain information about those behind the 'Red Army Kannur' account and verify whether the explosion actually occurred. The case has been registered under Section 192 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which deals with wantonly giving provocation with the intent to cause a riot. The police are taking a stern stance against the spread of hate speech and incitement on social media platforms.
