Police are questioning the identity of the person driving a seized white Lamborghini that was seen drifting in circles on a central Bengaluru road, due to inconsistent accounts.
The incident occurred near Anil Kumble Circle on March 21, where the white Lamborghini was seen performing doughnuts repeatedly in the early hours.
Acting on the video, Cubbon Park Traffic Police registered a case and impounded the car, initially linking it to Rikki Rai, son of the late underworld figure Muthappa Rai.
However, during questioning, the driver's responses did not align with the features of the Lamborghini, prompting doubts about his familiarity with it, investigators said.
Footage from cameras near MG Road and Cubbon Park is being reviewed to determine who was actually driving, alongside CCTV recordings and additional footage recorded by a bystander.
Rai has appeared before the police and submitted documents related to the vehicle, while officials have sought ownership information from the Regional Transport Office.
A case has been registered for rash and negligent driving, and officials said further action could follow, including fines and possible cancellation of the vehicle's registration.
