A top Lashkar-e-Taiba leader, Saifullah Kasuri, has sparked concern after acknowledging the group's close ties with Pakistan's military. In a recent video, Kasuri, deputy chief of the Hafiz Saeed-led outfit, boasted about receiving regular invitations from the Pakistani army to attend military events, including funeral prayers for soldiers. According to an India Today report, Kasuri made these comments at a school function in Pakistan, where he also claimed that India is 'scared of him.' He alleged that India's decision to target terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during Operation Sindoor was a 'mistake.' Kasuri also stated that the Lashkar-e-Taiba will not give up on the Kashmir issue. His claims come as a globally designated terrorist, Kasuri is a close aide of Hafiz Saeed and reportedly involved in the 2016 Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident led to a military operation by India, targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The operation, codenamed 'Operation Sindoor,' was a joint effort by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Pakistan responded with a four-day military conflict, which ended on May 10 with a ceasefire understanding. India Today could not independently verify the video, but Kasuri's claims have raised concerns about the ties between the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Pakistan's military. The report highlights the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly regarding the Kashmir issue.
