Badri's popularity transcended borders, with his couplets being quoted by the then President of Pakistan, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, during the Indo-Pak war. His influence extended to the Hindi film industry, with filmmakers like Vishal Bhardwaj and lyricist Varun Grover drawing inspiration from his works.

Throughout his illustrious career, Badr received numerous awards, including the Sahitya Akademi award and the Padma Shri, for his contributions to Urdu literature. Badr's gestures, as much as his words, showed his progressive nature, making him a beloved figure in the literary world.

Badri's legacy will live on through his timeless verses, which continue to touch the hearts of people across the world. His poetry on love and loss remains unparalleled, with lines like 'Ek samandar ke pyase kinare the hum, apna paigam lati thi mauj-e-rawan' becoming an instant hit. As Azra Naqvi so aptly put it, 'Khuda aise ehsaas ka naam hai — rahe samne aur dikhai na de' (God is the name of such a feeling: present before you, yet unseen).
