The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that no changes have been made to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) refill booking rules. Existing norms will continue as before, with 25 days for urban areas and 45 days for rural areas, irrespective of connection type.

The government has urged consumers to avoid panic booking, assuring that there is sufficient LPG stock available to meet demand.

Efforts are being made to provide scarce LPG equitably to commercial customers, such as community kitchens, dhabas, and migrant workers, while maintaining supplies to domestic consumers.

India meets about 50% of its natural gas consumption through domestic output, with the rest being imported from various geographies.

The government has advised city gas distribution entities to prioritise commercial connections and has proposed an additional 10% gas allocation for the expansion of piped natural gas (PNG).
