Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik stated that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is not facing any issues with diesel availability, thanks to a priority-wise allocation of fuel from the central government.

The allocation ensures that the MSRTC receives diesel for the next two months, with the Indian Oil Corporation offering an average discount of ₹5.13 per litre.

Despite the ongoing war in West Asia, the MSRTC Managing Director noted that the corporation does not have a plan B in place, relying solely on the current fuel supply arrangement.

The MSRTC operates around 15,800 buses across the state, with a daily requirement of 10.87 lakh litres of diesel and an annual cost of ₹3,400 crore.

Minister Sarnaik added that the corporation is expected to save ₹241 crore annually through the new diesel procurement arrangement.

The MSRTC is also planning to set up petrol pumps at 111 locations to generate additional revenue and reduce losses, which currently stand at around ₹12,000 crore.
