Outgoing West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has made fresh claims that the Election Commission of India helped the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) steal votes in the state.
Speaking at a press conference in Kalighat, Kolkata, Banerjee stated that she and her Trinamool Congress party fought the Election Commission, which she claimed worked in favor of the BJP.
Banerjee also alleged that she was physically attacked inside the counting centre, saying she was 'kicked, pushed and manhandled.'
The Election Commission declared the results for the West Bengal assembly elections on Monday, with the BJP winning 207 seats and the incumbent TMC winning 80 seats.
Banerjee stated that leaders of the INDIA bloc will be working together, following the 'rigging' of the election in the BJP's favor.
She also claimed that BJP 'goons' have made rape threats to female TMC leaders, especially those who questioned the election process.
