Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee has vowed to fight from the streets after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a spectacular victory in the Bengal assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee claimed that the BJP's win was not a people's mandate but an outcome of a conspiracy by the BJP, Election Commission of India, and central forces.
Banerjee alleged that the BJP hijacked the counting centres, assaulted her counting agents, and drove them out. She also accused the ECI and authorities of a crackdown targeting the TMC ahead of the elections, including deleting nine million names from the voter list and changing police officers and civil servants.
Banerjee received support from top leaders of the Opposition INDIA bloc, including Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, who expressed solidarity with her party. Mamata Banerjee vowed to strengthen the INDIA team and said she would give her full life for the service of the people.
She also alleged that she was kicked, assaulted, and abused during the counting after media reports claimed that the BJP was leading. Banerjee said she would set up a fact-finding committee to investigate the allegations of violence against her party workers and supporters.
