Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Automated Multilevel Car Park at Mawkhar and the fully mechanised Multilevel Car Park at Motphran, marking a significant step towards improving urban mobility and easing traffic congestion in Shillong.

The two parking facilities have been developed at a combined cost of ₹38.92 crore and have a total capacity of 200 vehicles. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma along with other dignitaries and officials.

The newly inaugurated facilities are expected to provide considerable relief to commuters, particularly in Motphran, one of Shillong's busiest and most congested areas, located adjacent to the bustling Iewduh market. The availability of organised parking spaces will help reduce roadside parking, improve traffic flow and enhance accessibility for residents, visitors and traders.

The initiative is part of the Meghalaya Government's broader efforts to develop a more organised, accessible and commuter-friendly Shillong through planned urban mobility solutions.

Alongside the ongoing redevelopment of Iewduh, these multilevel parking projects are expected to play an important role in addressing the city's growing traffic challenges and improving the overall urban infrastructure.
