Minor Collision at Delhi Airport: SpiceJet, Akasa Air Planes Involved

A minor collision occurred at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi between a SpiceJet aircraft and an Akasa Air plane on the runway.

The incident took place on April 16, 2026, at around 2.15 pm near Terminal 1.

The SpiceJet flight, SG-124, had just arrived from Leh, while the Akasa Air flight, QP-1406, was bound for Hyderabad.

The DGCA stated that the SpiceJet flight hit the horizontal tail surface of the Akasa Air plane, which was positioned on the apron.

The impact damaged the right-hand winglet of the SpiceJet flight and the horizontal tail surface of the Akasa aircraft.

Passengers and crew were safely disembarked, according to an Akasa Air spokesperson.

The incident is under investigation, and the DGCA has de-rostered the air traffic control officer and SpiceJet pilots involved.
