A 20-year-old woman who survived a brutal attack on a moving train in Kerala has made a stunning recovery after three months in hospital. Sreekutty, a native of Palode, was pushed out of the Kerala Express by a drunken man near Varkala on November 2. The incident left her with severe brain injuries, breathing difficulties, and a shoulder injury. According to Amrita Hospital, where Sreekutty received treatment, she underwent a tracheostomy and a feeding tube was inserted to assist her breathing and eating. The hospital's neuro-rehabilitation programme helped her regain mobility, cognitive function, and the ability to eat and speak independently. Sreekutty's mother, Priyadarshini, expressed gratitude for the medical team's efforts, saying her daughter's recovery was a 'miracle.' However, she noted that Sreekutty still requires assistance to walk and will undergo Ayurvedic treatment in Malappuram to improve her mobility. The family plans to file an application seeking compensation and government assistance. The police arrested Suresh Kumar, who allegedly pushed Sreekutty, and filed a chargesheet in January. The case is ongoing. Sreekutty's remarkable recovery has brought hope to her family and the community, and serves as a testament to the dedication of the medical team who worked tirelessly to save her life.
