Prime Minister Narendra Modi intensified his attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal, alleging that the party had 'handed over the land to syndicates and infiltrators' during its 15-year tenure.
Addressing rallies in North 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts, Modi focused on women's safety, saying they were firmly behind the BJP.
He also promised free rice, clean potable water, and ₹80,000 for setting up a solar power plant at home, among other benefits, if the BJP came to power.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah made similar promises to women voters in the Matua belts of Tehatta and Ranaghat in Nadia district, bordering Bangladesh.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, on the other hand, accused the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel of trying to 'capture' electronic voting machines (EVMs) in the districts that went to polls in the first phase on April 23.
The campaign for the second and final phase of the West Bengal assembly elections ends at 6 pm on Monday, with polling scheduled for April 29.
