The parliamentary standing committee on rural development and panchayati raj is set to present a report on the impact of mining and industrial corridors on rural people and land during the monsoon session.

The committee met with officials from the mines ministry, land resources department, and tribal affairs ministry to discuss protests in Odisha's Rayagada, land acquisition for the Ken Betwa River Linking project, and issues related to forest clearances.

The standing committee will seek comments from the environment, forests, and climate change ministry on forest clearance-related matters and a civil society organisation from an affected area.

The report may address the non-documentation of opposition from local communities to mining projects.

The committee, headed by Congress lawmaker Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, has previously recommended strict implementation of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
