Mumbai Airport Fire Under Control, Operations Unaffected

A fire has been reported inside Terminal 1B at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport on Thursday. The fire was confined to the terminal's ground floor and was caused by a short circuit in the cable trays and switch boxes.

Mumbai Fire Brigade, police and ward staff were utilised to extinguish the fire, with airport fire tenders initially trying to douse the flames before calling for additional help.

According to the latest statement, the fire has been brought under control and airport operations remain unaffected.

CSMIA spokesperson stated, 'On Thursday 09 April 2026, a minor fire was reported at Terminal 1 due to a short circuit at 18:10 hrs. The fire was immediately brought under control by the emergency response teams within minutes. Airport operations remain unaffected.'

As of 9:20 pm IST, the fire at Terminal 1B was extinguished.
