A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Mumbai's Santacruz area on New Year's Day, as a woman allegedly attacked her ex-lover with a knife, leaving him seriously injured. Joginder Mahto, 30, claimed that his former girlfriend, who is now married, had been in contact with him despite his repeated refusals to meet. According to Mahto's statement to the police, the woman had invited him to her residence on New Year's Day, supposedly to meet. However, soon after he arrived, she allegedly attacked him with a knife, stabbing him in his private parts. Mahto managed to flee the scene and sought medical attention at a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries. The Mumbai Police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are currently investigating. This disturbing incident highlights the dangers of stalking and harassment, particularly in the context of past relationships. In a separate incident, a woman from Ghatkopar was booked for blackmailing and extorting a 58-year-old hotelier, threatening to implicate him in a false rape case unless he paid her ₹2 crore as a 'settlement'. The police have arrested the woman and are conducting a thorough investigation into both cases.
