Key constituents of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have welcomed the proposed road map to implement the women's reservation law, but some leaders have raised concerns.

The Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill 2026, which aims to increase the number of seats to a maximum of 850 and reserve 33% seats for women in the Lok Sabha and Union Territories, has been circulated among parliamentarians.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh has made it clear that it has no apprehensions about the delimitation exercise, but a senior TDP leader has flagged significant ambiguities in the text of the bills.

A senior leader from the Janata Dal (United) has also voiced concerns, arguing that the bill poses 'fundamental challenges' in socially complex states like Bihar.

The Shiv Sena, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), and other NDA allies have welcomed the bills, but the opposition DMK has questioned the timing of the move ahead of the upcoming elections.
