The Noida International Airport has appointed Nitu Samra as its interim CEO after the BCAS declined to permit Christoph Schnellmann to continue due to a rule requiring the CEO to be an Indian national.

Samra, the airport's CFO since October 2021, will lead the airport until the Board of Directors concludes a formal selection process.

Christoph Schnellmann, a Swiss national, will join the airport's Board of Directors as executive vice chairman to support the project's transition to operations.

The decision comes after the Ministry of Home Affairs refused to authorise a change in the rule that requires an Indian to be the head of a greenfield airport in view of the security of air operations.
